Longer sprints today, plus heel-lifts. Kind of wish I hadn't seen that thing Rajit can do with his toe.

As Doctor Myers congratulates your on a successful run, Rajit and Sam bicker about why Rajit is unable to be a Runner. Rajit reveals that his supplies of bed sheets and linens are running low. Transcript[]
MAXINE MYERS: Okay, Runner Five, this is the first run in your second week of zombie training. We’re going to start just the same, though. A 10-minute brisk walk to warm up. And while you’re going -
SAM YAO: Well, a few people wanted to say hello.
RAJIT: Hi there! Just wondering if you’d had a chance to read my novel?
SAM YAO: Rajit, I thought you said you were going to keep Runner Five company today.
RAJIT: Hey, what’s more companionable than a little chat about things we might have read lately, right?
SAM YAO: Runner Five needs to focus.
RAJIT: That’s great, that’s great! We’ll focus together. Focus on training, focus on novels. It’s all good.
MAXINE MYERS: Rajit!
RAJIT: I kid, I kid! Hey there, new Runner Five. I’m Rajit. I run beds and dorms around here, and if you want to get a hot shower ever again, you’d better read my novel!
SAM YAO: Rajit, just stop that, okay? Just stop.
RAJIT: Hey, okay, I’ve got the message. Jeez, you’d think I’d killed a runner or something.
SAM YAO: Don’t even -
MAXINE MYERS: Uh, come on, now. Enough of this nonsense. Runner Five, begin your walk now. I guess Rajit will still be around to chat when you’re done with your workout. Go.
MAXINE MYERS: That’s three minutes, Runner Five. You’re doing well.
MAXINE MYERS: Five minutes! You’re halfway.
MAXINE MYERS: Eight minutes done. Nearly there.
MAXINE MYERS: And that’s your 10 minutes. Now, I’m going to give you the walk/run drills. These are different to last week, but one thing stays the same: when I say run, run slowly. You’re going to be running for 30 seconds and then walking for 1 minute, five times. After each run, you do five heel lifts. I’ll tell you when to run.
MAXINE MYERS: Okay, run. Slow running, remember?
MAXINE MYERS: Just 10 more seconds of running.
MAXINE MYERS: Now stop running and do five heel lifts. That means stand where you are, both feet on the ground, and raise yourself up onto your toes, taking your heels off the ground, and then come back down under control. Do that five times, and then walk until I tell you.
MAXINE MYERS: Time for another quick run. Imagine one of those shambling zoms is right behind you. [imitates zombie moan] Run!
MAXINE MYERS: Only 10 seconds of running left.
MAXINE MYERS: Do your five heel lifts, and then walk to get your breath back.
MAXINE MYERS: More running. You can do it!
MAXINE MYERS: Only 10 seconds of running to go.
MAXINE MYERS: That’s great! Stop running, do those five heel lifts, and then walk.
MAXINE MYERS: Time for another quick run. Go!
MAXINE MYERS: Nearly there! Just 10 more seconds.
MAXINE MYERS: That is good work, Runner Five! Now raise up onto your toes for those five heel lifts, and then walk.
MAXINE MYERS: Nearly there. Run!
MAXINE MYERS: Only 10 seconds until you’re done with running drills for today.
MAXINE MYERS: That’s excellent work, Runner Five. Do your five heel lifts now, and then walk.
MAXINE MYERS: Now it’s time for a 10-minute free-form run. Again, it’s up to you how much you run or walk. You can run it all, walk it all, or swap between walking and running.
MAXINE MYERS: That’s great! You’ve done three minutes.
MAXINE MYERS: Halfway there! Five minutes to go.
MAXINE MYERS: Just two minutes to go now. Keep going.
MAXINE MYERS: Okay, Runner Five, great run! Cool down now and stretch out your muscles.
RAJIT: Hey, you did well there! I’d love to be a runner myself if it weren’t for the -
SAM YAO: The vocational commitment to bed-making?
RAJIT: Hey, you know I broke my foot in a dozen places in the evacuation of Manchester!
SAM YAO: I know, man. I know. I’m sorry.
RAJIT: It never healed right. No antibiotics. And if I do this one thing with my little toe, I can -
SAM YAO: Hey, hey, enough detail!
RAJIT: Makes it hard for me to get around, anyway. But we’re glad that able-bodied people like you are training to help us out. We need all the runners we can get. Dorms are running low on sheets, blankets -
MAXINE MYERS: Huh? I thought you were doing okay for that stuff. I know we’ve been requisitioning some as bandages, but…
RAJIT: I don’t know. Seems as if some stuff’s been going missing, lately.
SAM YAO: Well, that’s… worrying.
RAJIT: Not as worrying as the latest exciting development in… my novel! Really? Most of the reading material in the world’s been destroyed, and I still can’t find a beta reader. [sighs] Anyway, Runner Five, this is for you, from the dorms, to thank you for your hard work. We know you’ll be out there soon, picking up supplies for us.
MAXINE MYERS: Great work today, Five. Take a day off running now. We’ll see you back here day after tomorrow to do this training run again.
