Jamie Skeet is a former fireman who has been taking care of a group of children at the fire station.

History[]

Pre-apocalypse[]

Early Apocalypse[]

Jamie's fire station is visited by a group of children on a school trip. The kids are still there when the zombie apocalypse begins. Jamie is unwilling to send the kids home, so he decides to look after them at the station.[1]

Lem regularly delivers supplies of toys, food, vaccines, and DVDs to Jamie and the children.[2]

Season Two[]

When Carena and Jasper go missing, Jamie uses the last bit of fuel in his fire truck to go out and look for them. He finds them near the school, being carried by Runner Five and Archie Jensen as they run from a horde of zombies. Jamie uses the truck's hose to spray the zombies and knock them all down. He takes the kids from the runners and begins heading back to the station on foot. Along the way, Archie flirts with Jamie relentlessly. Archie tries to convince Jamie to send the kids to Abel Township or New Canton where they will be better protected, but Jamie refuses, citing his dislike of the local politics. Archie gives Jamie a radio anyway, telling him that he can call New Canton for help if he needs it - or if he just wants to talk to her. The zombies are still following them, so the runners decide to act as decoys to let Jamie and the kids make it back to fire station safely. When he gets back, Jamie decides to send a message to Archie after all.[1]

Jamie and Archie begin dating soon after.[3]

Jamie and Archie head out to meet with Runner Five and Sara Smith in order to test out the effects of dog whistles on zombies. Five finds a pattern that causes all the zombies to follow after them, and Jamie and Archie discover a pattern that causes the zombies to start picking up and throwing rocks. Jamie whistles to get the zombies to follow him, and leads them all to a nearby river where they are washed away. Archie blows her whistle just to celebrate, which draws a pack of wild dogs towards them. They manage to outrun most of the dogs - except for a young puppy, which Jamie gives to Archie. Archie is delighted by the gift.[3]

At Archie's request, Jamie joins a large group of runners from both Abel Township and New Canton to acts as decoys so that Archie and Runner Five can sneak into one of Van Ark's secret bases.[4]

Archie is captured by Van Ark. Jamie meets up with Runner Five to place several devices around the area in an attempt to triangulate the position of Archie's tracker. During this, Sam gives Jamie the designation of Runner Ten, which he isn't thrilled about but doesn't protest much.[5]

Jamie and Five head towards the group of buildings where Archie is being held. Via Archie's hidden microphone, they hear Van Ark torturing her. Jamie pulls out some incendiary charges, intending to start a fire so that Van Ark is forced to flee. But Janine tells him to wait; they have a plan and New Canton is sending reinforcements. As Van Ark continues torturing Archie, Jamie becomes more and more agitated, until finally Maxine tells him to go ahead and rescue Archie. Jamie and Five set the charges and blow open a wall of one of the buildings - but the room is empty. It's the wrong building. Jamie and Five rush towards the correct one, but before they get there they hear Van Ark call for his helicopter to pick him up...and then two gunshots as he shoots and kills Archie.[6]

At Janine's request, Jamie heads to Abel to help with a chemical spill, which he received training for as a fireman. Jamie, Runner Five, and Sara head down into the labs below Abel to retrieve the leaking containers, but the chemical fumes in the air are strong and cause Jamie to begin hallucinating. He sees Archie and runs after her. He also hears Archie talking to him (although it's actually Sara talking). "Archie" encourages Jamie to grab the containers and get out, as she doesn't want Jamie to end up dead like her. Jamie comes back to lucidity once they exit the labs, but his grief over Archie comes back in full force and he quickly leaves to be alone.[7]

Jamie participates in Janine's test of Abel Township's structural defenses alongside nine other runners.[8]

Jamie reluctantly participates in the first annual Abel/New Canton boat race. He's on a team with Runner Five and Sam, going up against Nadia and two New Canton runners. Jamie and Sam almost immediately begin bickering with each other, and Sam ends up taking Jamie's place as a rower. Unfortunately the race is interrupted by the arrival of a large horde of zombies, but Five brought a noisemaker so the two boats lead the zombies away while the crowd gets to safety. They get caught in some unexpected rapids and the New Canton boat capsizes. The two runners make it safely to shore, but Nadia hits her head against a rock and has to be rescued by Jamie. They row out into a lake, but the zombies are still following them underwater. Nadia recognizes that the island in the middle of the lake used to house a military base, so she and Jamie head ashore to grab weapons while Sam and Five keep rowing to distract the zombies. Jamie and Nadia return with frag grenades, which they throw into the lake to destroy the zombies.[9]

Jamie heads to Holmes Settlement in search of Carena and Jasper, who have run off again. When he gets there he finds the settlement mysteriously abandoned. He meets up with Runner Five and Simon, and together they find the missing residents in a nearby barn - all zombified. While fleeing the zombies, they head to the local school where they find Carena still alive - but Jasper and all the other kids have become zombies as well. They use the anti-zombie spray to kill the zombies, but suddenly Carena starts choking and struggling to breathe.[10]

Jamie, Five, and Simon rush back to Abel as fast as they can. Jamie thinks Carena is having an asthma attack, but after Maxine examines her she says it's more like a severe allergic reaction. Just then, Major de Santa comes into the comms shack and demands that Sam switch to a secure channel. The Major says that she suspected the anti-zombie spray might have side effects on children. Jamie says they have to stop using the spray then, but the Major says that isn't his call to make and orders everyone to remain quiet about this or face the consequences.[11]

Season Three[]

Jamie is found to be the legal King of England and he leaves to do his duty, becoming King Jamie the First.

Personality[]

Jamie has a short temper and a prickly attitude. Because of this he sometimes comes off as rude or aggressive. In contrast to his general demeanor, he has a kind heart. He willingly took guardianship of the school children after the start of the apocalypse and while he often scolds them for running off and getting into trouble, it's clear that he does care about them.

Jamie has a strong sense of duty. He wasn't excited to become King of England, but he accepted the responsibility and is doing his best to be reasonable, respectable leader.
